Re: Preventing carpal tunnel syndrome

Number one thing I think is regular breaks from the computer. It is really amazing how much strain sitting at the computer places on the hands, arms, back, legs, and of course the eyes! I try to take a short break, even just a minute or two, at least once every 20-30 minutes to do some quick stretch...

Re: Abcess on the lower eyelid

Do you have allergies? If it's a real accumulation of fluid that could be a possible cause. If so, the best case would be prevention by using hypoallergenic pillows and bedding and controlling for dust in the home. You may need ongoing treatment with allergy meds if it's a recurring problem?

Re: How to clear neck pain in the morning

I get this too, and it can really be miserable. Luckily, last time it only lasted one day. The only things I have found to help are very gentle stretching and walking to get the blood flowing. An anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen provides a little relief but mostly I've had to just wait this out.

Hip pain after foot injury

I had a foot injury that kept me off my feet for a few weeks awhile back. While that seems to have cleared up, now I am having intense pain in my hips and the front of the thigh. It feels like it is related to the weakness and stiffness from being inactive for so long. Are there any specific exercis...

Re: Tips for Flu and Cold at Home

Peppermint tea seems to do wonder to help when my sinuses are acting up. Lemon and honey are also great for sore throats so I'll add that in if I'm having a sore throat. Also, I find that just plain old rest is the best remedy. I used to run ragged trying to work through a flu or cold, nowadays I wi...

Re: Treatments using Antidepressants for chronic pain and depression

Well there are all kinds of side effects with antidepressants that need to be closely monitored, that is why it often takes trying a couple medications out before a patient finds the right one. Chronic pain and lead to depression and vice versa, so I think it makes sense as a treatment option. Just ...

Re: Medicinal Marajuana

@Vinaya there is a purely synthetic version of cannibis called Marinol that doctors can prescribe for pain. My late husband had it when he was ill and it was a godsend for him. I really do not think it is a very risky medication overall, especially when compared with most pharmaceutical pain killers...

Re: Plantar Fasciitis Problems

I had this quite bad a few years ago. I did a lot of stretching of my calves and feet both in the morning before I got out of bed, and then on the floor in the evenings before bed. This helped a little bit but unfortunately the biggest cure was a lot harder - I had to lose weight! I wasn't terribly ...

Hip pain in the evenings?

I have started a new job where I'm on my feet a lot more. At first my feet were killing me even after a short shift, but they are finally feeling better. However, now after work I get this horrible tightness in my hips and I can't seem to stretch it right no matter what! Will this go away like the f...

Re: My Air Bed

I've never thought of using an airbed as my main bed! I've had a couple in the past, but I worry they wouldn't stand up to day to day use. How long have you had yours? Can you recommend a brand or a model to try?
