Recently at an eye exam, the Doctor told me I have some symptoms of glaucoma and referred me to an ophthalmologist. I am wondering what the symptoms of glaucoma are. He said I have increased pressure in my eyes. All I notice is a lot of swelling, tired eyes, irritation, chronic dryness etc. My eyes feel "tired" like I have to close them even when I'm not tired. I sometimes put a cool compress on my eyes and that seems to help but only for a while. I'm a little worried. I don't want to loose my vision. I already have poor vision and I wear bifocals.
Yes, untreated glaucoma can be very painful due to the built-up pressure, you will not feel pain or notice blind spots at first. But, Did you notice blind spots at the edges of the field of vision? Or are you progressing to tunnel vision? Someone from your family suffered from glaucoma? These are symptoms for progressive loss of sight.
Thank you for this information. I have always had bad vision. Mostly astigmatism and near/far sightedness. I don't notice any tunnel vision at all or any floaters or narrowing of vision. Sometimes I think that because I have lupus, I automatically blame everything on that. I do have an appointment next week to see the ophthalmologist though. Better to be safe than sorry!
