The Different Types of Pain

Postby ziskasun » Tue Jun 21, 2016 11:32 pm

I have recently learned that there are three main types of pain:

1. Somatic pain- when your pain receptors are activated either from your skin or skeletal tissues. This is most common and can be aching or dull.
2. Visceral Pain – This is internal organ pain. This is harder to pinpoint and more often a “pressure” that is felt.
3. Neuropathic pain – Pain caused by damage to the spine and or peripheral nerve system. This can be experienced as tingling, numbness, stinging
or short bursts of intense pain.

Management for the different types of pain can be different. It can range from simple acetaminophen to narcotics to acupuncture. There is quite a bit of good research out there on this subject. I like to stay informed and knowing what kind of pain I am having helps me to have a good talk with my doctor about what the best treatment for my unique pain might be.

What is your question? I don't see any. But if you want to know how feel better with a pain free life, then that is impossible. But I can offer some tips to help alleviate pain.

I use to have pains all over my body as well as allergies. I remember having a tingling sensation on my right shoulder blade and I didn't know where it came from. Eventually I had to wise up and it was my health and what I was eating that affect the my body to the point where weird pains became apparent.

I cleaned myself up and started eating right. Lost 25 pounds in the process and most of my ailments have gone away. I had to educate myself on proper nutrition. Not the nutritional facts that we were taught in school. The real facts that are hardly spoken of because big companies have infiltrated our education system in order to sell more commodities that are on the market.

Your body will heal itself if given the right fuel and the time needed to heal.

Even my mother was suffering from somatic pain. The knee specialists at OrthoTexas, Frisco recommended exercises which really helped to relieve pain.
